Here’s the thing- seeing and understanding a hidden agenda in yourself or others is good. However, the real skill comes from learning how to have a conversation about hidden agendas in a safe and respectful manner so that you can build greater trust with others.


By uncovering some common patterns that lie just below the surface of awareness, you will see that hidden agendas, invisible rules and covert processes are neither good nor bad. A better measure of value is to determine “who benefits…?” You will identify ways for a whole team to benefit from having greater transparency and clarity about how to move forward.


Most importantly, each member of the team will learn how to bring forward a background conversation and what action steps you can effectively take to build a more productive team.

Duality thinking is familiar to all of us. It’s built into language as categorization, a short cut to thinking. Dualities help us contrast one thing from another in their opposites- black-white, yes- no and on and on. Either it is this or that. Dualities help us make distinctions so that we can compare one thing to another.


On the other hand, both-and thinking acknowledges that something can be both right and wrong depending on the situation. Team members are introduced to Polarity Management thinking, the work of Barry Johnson.


Both-and thinking can depolarize an individual, a team and an organization during turbulent times of rapid change, complexity and ambiguity as we are in now. You will learn to balance two seemingly opposite ends of a continuum by focusing on interdependent values such as both stability and change, both reflection and action and both advocacy and inquiry.


The sessions are customized to the needs of the team and the organization.
